Nearly 4 decades ago, Miami had two daily newspapers and–-hard as it is to believe now–-no spanish-language television. Over-the-air television was limited to three or four stations. There were just two or three spanish language radio stations limited to the AM dial.
Stock artwork consisted of cartoons delivered by mail each month. Federal Express had just launched and there were no fax machines in use. Ads were made by hand with an X-Acto knife, hot wax and a ruler. Video tape was one-inch wide and audio tape came on reels.
It was in this environment that Poller & Jordan Advertising Agency ran the first spanish-language TV commercial in South Florida. We’ve been doing the best for our clients–combining critical thinking with creative actions–ever since.
